Thailand is the easiest market in Southeast Asia to be openly gay in, and the apps reflect that — people are more open in their profiles, meeting up is less fraught, and the community layer of these apps actually gets used. That changes which app is right for you.
The apps
Hornet — the strongest here
Consistently ranks at or near the top in Thailand. It leans social: a content feed, community posts, more detailed profiles. In a market where people are comfortable being visible, that works. Good for: community, events, being part of something ongoing.
Blued — huge, especially with Chinese speakers
Large user base with live streaming built in. Strong in Bangkok. Good for: reach plus the live/social layer.
Grindr — still the default for immediacy
Location-first, fast, minimal friction. Good for: right now, nearby. Trade-off: limited verification means you're screening for real accounts yourself.
Meyou — interest-first, verified
Ours. You join rooms around interests and talk before matching. Everyone verifies their identity. Messages are private and encrypted.
We're newer in Bangkok than the apps above — that's a real disadvantage on pool size and an advantage on noise. The rooms are small enough that people actually talk.

Bangkok vs everywhere else
Bangkok has enough density that any of these works. Outside Bangkok — Chiang Mai, Phuket, Isaan — pool size drops fast and the bigger apps win on sheer numbers. If you're outside the capital, start with whichever has the most users near you and treat the rest as secondary.
Safety still applies
Thailand being relatively open doesn't remove the basics: meet in public first, keep the conversation on-platform until you've met, tell someone where you're going. Scam accounts target tourists specifically in Bangkok and Phuket — an app with identity verification meaningfully reduces that exposure.
